As winter approaches, Krafton is also bringing a new theme for the cold environment. The highly anticipated Sub-zero (Winter) mode is coming in the BGMI / PUBG Mobile 4.7 update with new items, outfits, and a story that you have never experienced before. There are two different modes, each with a different look. This update will be rolled out in the second week of November, so prepare your devices before then to avoid interruptions. I have explored the beta version, so let’s check out what’s added in version 4.7.
SUB-ZERO MODE
This is the best theme mode, in which a gas leak from a satellite that crashed during a scientist’s experiment freezes Erangel. Parts of the satellite hit the bridge and damaged it. The water has frozen, ice blocks some doors and windows, and the developers have revamped several urban areas. You will get a highlighted location on the map where the satellite crashed; there you will get a special cold-proof suit, a blue zone throwable, and an Airdrop weapon. The suit will protect you from snow thunders, fast winds, and reduce the blue zone grenade damage. Only one person can get this loot in the entire lobby, so as the match starts, you should aim to jump there to grab this special suit.
There will be two types of weather: one will be normal, while the other will be snowy, with strong winds that will sometimes make your character feel heavier while walking. As I mentioned earlier, all the lakes and water are frozen, so you can drive your vehicle on them just as you would on the road. Now, you do not have to worry about crossing the bridge or passing through the bridge camp to get to the zone.

Main Theme Mode
The developers have not yet confirmed the mode’s name in the third beta update, but they have added hot drops, powers, Pegasus, and much more.
Pegasus
This is a two-seater white flying horse with big wings that you can ride on the ground and fly in the air. It comes with three modes: low-flying mode, mid-flying mode, and high-flying mode. As you fly, a power bar will appear on your screen. When it reaches zero, you will land on the ground. You can use it to your advantage when rushing or rotating, but flying in the air is not a good strategy for pushing rank.
Dragon Boss
The main boss of this mode is the Dragon Boss, which will appear in the main themed area. It is spread across Erangel, so you will see it in Pochinki and other locations. Half of its body is underground, while the other half is visible in the themed hot drops. However, it is not interactable yet, but we can expect something special from it.
Urban Areas Revamped
Some urban areas, such as Pochinki and Rozhok, now feature redesigned winter environments. The developers have added new stone and wooden houses, given existing houses a fresh look, and installed decorative trees. You will definitely enjoy exploring these areas because the game offers an aurora environment unlike anything you have seen before.
Christmas Area
As we see in every winter update, in this season also, we will see some special circular areas decorated with flowers to celebrate Christmas. There you will get the special loot and gift boxes.
Special Powers
In some locations, you will see stone pillars. When you interact with them, a menu of powers will appear. You can adopt only 3 powers, but if you like a 4th one, you can swap with those you currently have. There will be 3 levels of each power; as you level up, it will get better.
- Healing Power: As you get closer to the Peguses, you can heal yourself.
- Supply Detection: This power will mark the nearby loot so you can easily find what you need.
- Armor Repair: You can repair your Armor with this power.
- Tactical Shield: This creates a special tactical shield around your character. It will reduce damage.
- Airdrop Prediction: As the name suggests, this power will give you the location of the next Airdrop so you can get better loot. Remember, enemies can also use it and camp around the Airdrop.
- Gun Switch and Fast Reload: With this power, your gun will reload faster and will switch quickly, so in close combat it would be an advantage.
Airdrop Addition:
A new item named Battle Ready Kit is coming in the next update that will allow you to recover full health and repair the damaged helmet and Armor. Now you do not need to worry about collecting coins to get the Armor/Helmet from the shop or search for it. You can just use this kit.
AI Companion:
In the Beta version, PUBG added the Pownin, one of the best and most liked AI companions that came last year in the Frosty Funland update. Maybe this is a return, or in the final version they will replace it with another one.
All the features, powers, modes, and items are under development and do not reflect the final version. PUBG has the right to remove anything from them in the final stable release coming in November, along with the highly anticipated M416 Glacier Switch Effect and PUBG Mobile Flash. So, this season would be the best season of this year.
